Siddha Medicine for Psoriasis

Siddha medicine presents a holistic approach to managing psoriasis, leveraging ancient Indian healing principles. Through a blend of herbal remedies, dietary modifications, and lifestyle adjustments, Siddha practitioners aim to rebalance the body’s internal energies. Specific herbs like neem, turmeric, and aloe vera are often utilized for their anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties. This comprehensive approach not only targets the symptoms but also addresses the root causes, offering individuals with psoriasis a natural and personalized path to relief and skin health.

Psoriasis

PSORIASIS IS A CHRONIC (Long-lasting) disease in which the immune system becomes overactive causing skin cells to multiply too quickly. The patch of skin becomes scaly and inflamed most often on the scalp and elbows, knees. Thick scaly areas are called plaques.

The acupoints of psoriasis are located at the center base of your neck, slightly off-center below the knee. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition which means it can flare up unexpectedly and is associated with psoriatic arthroplasty, psychological, cardiovascular and hepatic disease.

It’s not known exactly why this happens but research suggests it’s caused by a problem with the immune system. Body cells produce new skin cells in the deepest layer of skin.

Psoriasis means “itching condition” or “being itchy”. Dry thick raised patches on the skin are common signs of psoriasis. The patches are covered with silvery white scales that tend to itch and pain.

Psoriasis is common and develops in people of all races. The symptoms are plaques, issues with fingernails, toe nails, and crust appearing on the scalp. Psoriasis affects 80% of sufferers and is a lifelong disease. Treatment from a dermatologist is the correct way.

“Robert William” was the first physician to distinguish psoriasis. Isn’t contagious. Doesn’t spread to other people, but seems to pass down through families.

Psoriasis is usually within ten years, but sometimes longer by arthritis. It affects the eye, heart, lungs, liver and kidney. The five types of psoriasis are plaque, nail, gutter, pustular, and erythrodermic. Psoriasis-related immune dysfunction may cause lung parenchyma.

Over stress, sunburn, infection, some medication, dry weather, heavy alcohol drinking, and environmental triggers develop psoriasis. Treating psoriasis reduces psoriatic arthritis, obesity, and depression. Psoriasis is not generally considered life-threatening except in cases of erythrodermic psoriasis.

In three percent to eighty-eight percent of cases, patients report stress as being triggered for the psoriasis. Vitamin D deficiency leads to psoriasis. Discoloration is temporary and can disappear. Some exposure needs to be spread over time to improve skin appearance.

Steroid cream or ointment (topical corticosteroids) are normally used to treat psoriasis. The treatment reduces inflammation, slows the production of skin cells and reduces itching.

Psoriasis is found more frequently in type O’S. Stop smoking, cutting down alcohol, losing weight in obesity, stress relieving activity are the lifestyle changes for psoriasis.

Siddha Treatment for Psoriasis

Siddha medicine, an ancient traditional system of medicine originating from South India, offers holistic approaches for managing psoriasis. While it’s important to consult with a qualified Siddha practitioner for personalized advice, here are some commonly recommended Siddha approaches for psoriasis:

  • Detoxification Therapies (Purification): Siddha medicine emphasizes the purification of the body to eliminate toxins. Therapies like Panchakarma, which includes various cleansing techniques, may be recommended.
  • Internal Medications: Siddha practitioners may prescribe herbal formulations or mineral-based medicines to balance the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) believed to be responsible for psoriasis.
  • Dietary Modifications: Siddha medicine often suggests dietary changes to balance the body’s energies. This may involve avoiding certain foods that are thought to aggravate the condition.
  • External Applications: Topical preparations, such as ointments and oils containing herbal ingredients, may be applied to the affected skin to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
  • Lifestyle Recommendations: Siddha medicine emphasizes a holistic approach to health, including lifestyle modifications. Stress management techniques, adequate sleep, and a balanced routine may be recommended to support overall well-being.
